Well Okay Then

Well okay then...

Ever since Maya has been out of school she has been on a drawing/coloring/cutting/taping spree that is unlike anything I have ever seen. She is like a locust consuming everything in her path. She has literally used every piece of paper in our house. I'm worried she is going to start taking the toilet paper soon. I try and hide a piece of paper here or there but like a bloodhound she tracks it down...rips it from it's hiding place...and then glares at me as she walks by and heads back to her coloring table.

One of the reasons I am recording my training in my blog is because I had been just jotting it on random pieces of paper but eventually those pieces of paper would mysteriously disappear and then reappear later colored purple and full of butterflies and flowers. She comes out of these marathon coloring sessions with marker all over  her face and arms like she is painted for battle.

I am starting to feel guilty about her paper use so I tried to tell her she can't use so much paper and so she should use some coloring program on my ipad instead. But here's the thing....she didn't want to. So there I was trying to convince my daughter to use my ipad when all she wants to do is draw and then color the real way. I stopped and was thinking....I hear people complain all the time about all their kids want to do is use the ipad and here I am trying to convince my daughter to use mine instead of color quietly on her own and use her imagination to make things. Hmm...well okay then. Parenting 101 right there.

So feeling kind of silly...but still wanting to get the last word in....I said, "well fine...but you are using recycled paper!" Ha! Showed her...
